The Can-Am 500 is a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. It is one of four NASCAR races run with a length measured in kilometers; the Camping World 500 at Phoenix is one and the two road course events (Toyota/Save Mart 350 and Cheez-It 355 at The Glen) are the others.
Phoenix Raceway (PIR) is a 1 mile, low-banked tri-oval race track located in Avondale, Arizona. It is named after the nearby metropolitan area of Phoenix. The motorsport track opened in 1964 and currently hosts two NASCAR race weekends and 1 IndyCar Series race weekend annually. Phoenix Raceway has also hosted the CART, USAC and the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The raceway is currently owned and operated by International Speedway Corporation.
